When the Dark Knight Sparda rose up in defiance of the Underworld and defeated the Dark Emperor Mundus, he wasn’t alone. He had help from an ancient group of Guardians known as Night Blade, demons that swore to protect the humans from the demonic forces that threatened them. When Sparda came to them, seeking help in sealing away the Demon Emperor, the High Lady immediately helped him. She gave her own blood to perform the sealing ritual.
An alliance was formed that day, if Sparda or any of his descents needed help Night Blade would answer. Three years after the birth of Vergil and Dante, Eva gave birth to another child, a daughter. Sparda took the child to the High Lady of Night Blade, a friend of his who would keep the child safe. The child was placed in the care of her Right Hand who raised her as her own.
Four years after Nero and Dante brought down the Savior, a new threat has emerged. All over the world Hell Gates are emerging, Hybrids and humans are going missing and Devil Arms are being stolen. Lady and Trish made this known to Dante, this worried him but something worried him more. Nero turning up at his doorstep and informing him that Yamato had been stolen too.
The blade was taken by the Right Hand of Night Blades’ High Lady, the vampire Ephemera Valentine. With the blade in hand she travelled deep into the depths of Hell. If what her mistress seen in her vision was true then humanity would be doomed without Sparda’s children to defend them. Ephemera bonded with Vergil, linking her life to his and giving him life once more.
Together they returned to Night Blade where Vergil could regain his strength. It didn’t take long for rumours to reach Dante...Or the Dark Emperor Mundus who had once again seized power and was trying to take over the demon world....
