Naomi smiled as she put her laptop down on the wooden deck, next to her white lounge chair. She had found the backside of the ship and had set up camp here. Since it was pretty far from all of the attractions, traffic across was limited and almost all of the chairs that lined the railing were empty. Naomi had a feeling that once the ship was fully boarded, she wasn't going to get much quiet time so she had to soak it up while she could. For the past twenty or so minutes, she had been on the cruise's chat room, just to see what it was like. Although it seemed pretty silly to her; being on an awesome cruise ship with tons of stuff to do and people to meet, and instead just going online and chatting with people there. Oh well, she couldn't complain, she had met some cool people in that small amount of time. Hopefully people that would actually hang out with her in person too. And she had found out that Andy Wisher was on the boat, which didn't do her any harm either. For now, however, she was content with just laying here by herself, the sound of the waves lapping against the side of the boat, the smell of the salty ocean, and the air that warmed her body even when she was under full shade.
Naomi closed her eyes and slowly drifted into a light slumber. She could only nap for a little while, it was her first evening off since she had gotten here and she wasn't going to waste it with sleep. However, it was only about three in the afternoon at the moment, so she could sleep for an hour or two and still have time to think about what to get for dinner and then get ready for an evening out and about. It wasn't long before Naomi's mind started to concoct some weird setting and story. She was always having strange dreams, probably because she had a really vivid imagination; a must for an actress. She found herself back in Boyne City, Michigan, walking around her old house. She couldn't move faster than a crawl and her eyes wouldn't open more than half-way. She struggled through the home; trying to find her family to tell them that Gene Kelly had gave her a job and was going to teach her all of his tap dancing secrets. After struggling to get up the stairs, she finally got into her brother Noah's room and found him sitting on his bed, apparently the only one at home.
She told him about the job and he laughed in her face, thinking it was all a practical joke. Naomi argued with him fiercely, as though her life depended on it. As soon as he believed her, the dream changed. She didn't know how she had gotten here, but she was on a stage with only a small, white towel on. She shuffled around, trying to find her clothes and trying to ask the other cast members what play they were performing and who they were playing. But of course, no one answered her. She finally found the stage manager, who was oddly enough her father and he pushed her out on stage for her monologue. She heard the faint sound of footsteps as she stood there, unable to remember her lines. As the footsteps grew louder, her surroundings faded and eventually, Naomi opened her eyes. She had no clue how long she had been sleeping but as she looked down the side of the walkway, she noticed someone walking toward her. She pushed herself up on the chair and ran her fingers through her hair, hoping that she hadn't messed up her hair too much from sleeping. Her hand slipped into her short's pockets and got out her phone. Only 3:45pm. At least she hadn't been asleep too long.

In most situations, Andy liked to believe that he wasn’t the “stereotypical” guy. He wasn’t particularly interested in sports, he had no problems asking for directions, and he could make himself a damn sandwich, thank you very much. But as Ella pointed out to him that morning, he fell into at least one male stereotype: he was shit at packing.
“God, Andy, we’re on a tropical cruise and you’re wearing jeans and long sleeves,” she teased him. For his part, Andy didn’t see a problem. It couldn’t be that hot outside, right? It’s not like he was wearing a snow suit or anything. He just happened to like that shirt. Why shouldn’t he wear it if he liked it? When he said as much to his roommate (or girlfriend, if you wanted to believe that), she just laughed and told him to have fun sweating to death.
“I will, thanks,” he said with a slight grin and turned on his heel in an almost girly manner to exit the room and prove his point. When he was still in the cabin area, he was just fine, of course. He wasn’t thinking of all the air conditioning it had, so in Andy’s mind, this would be what the weather would be like on deck too.
Oh, how wrong he was.
When he stepped outside, he felt like he was walking into a damn sauna or something. The temperature probably wasn’t all that high, but the humidity was awful. He’d thought it was bad in Georgia, but this was at least ten times worse. He could practically feel his clothes sticking to his skin already. It was a nightmare. How the fuck do people stand this weather long enough to stay outside? A quick glance around showed men wearing only swim trunks, and women wearing shorts and bikini tops or light, airy sundresses. Right. Weather appropriate clothing. Go figure. God, he hated it when Ella was right.
But he’d already set out to prove her wrong, and he wouldn’t give up already, no matter how much he wanted to run back to his room (well, maybe not run…) and hop in a nice, cold shower. He’d just have to find somewhere cooler. Which presumably meant getting away from the huge crowd of people that existed…well, pretty much everywhere on the ship. So he obviously had a relatively difficult task ahead of him. Challenge accepted.
As he wandered around, trying to scout out the least populated areas, he somehow felt that more people than usual were staring at him. If it was true, it probably had something to do with the fact that he looked like he was ready to go rake some leaves or something. Whatever, he was Andy fucking Wisher, he could pull anything off. He just slid his aviators on so he wouldn’t have to look at people looking at him. That was always the most awkward part, accidentally catching someone’s eye and not knowing what to do.
After a while, Andy found himself on the very top level of the ship, which was admittedly less crowded than the area with the snack shops, but it also housed the pool. He didn’t particularly want to be forced to stare at the cold, refreshing pool and be tempted to jump in with all of his clothes on. Just thinking about it was tempting enough. No, that wouldn’t do at all. He quickly made his way past the pool before realizing that there was really nowhere else to go.
Or at least, he hadn’t thought there was. After a bit of squinting, Andy could clearly see another deck on the opposite side of the top level—one that looked pretty damn empty. That was good enough for him. He walked around the pool and the pool bar and all of the other top level fun activities until he made it to the deserted deck. Oh, that was so much better. Now that there wasn’t all that body heat around him, Andy couldn’t actually feel a slight ocean breeze against his skin, and he didn’t feel like he was walking through a bowl of thick soup any longer. And all he could hear was the dull roar of activity from the far side of the ship. Other than that, nothing disturbed his peace but the waves and the seagulls. He could get used to this, that was for sure. It had been the kind of quiet, relaxing experience he had been expecting when Ella convinced him to go on this cruise. Man, had she pulled the wool over his eyes.
“Wha--?” Freezing as he heard a rustling of activity behind him, Andy slowly turned around, not entirely sure why he was freaking out so much. There was really no reason to, of course; it turned out that he had simply skimmed over the deck enough that he didn’t see that another person had been lying there. Whoops. Well, so much for his peace and quiet.
“Beautiful day out, eh?” he commented, attempting to make some sort of conversation before a wave of realization hit him. “Oh, wait, I think I know you…it’s, um, Naomi, right? From the chatroom?” It felt kind of dorky to recognize someone from a chatroom, but whatever. It was the truth. He smiled and gestured around the deck. “Looks like you got yourself a pretty nice setup around here.”

After recovering from waking up, Naomi laid her head back against the chair. She hated that she was such a light sleeper, even just footsteps woke her up. She had always been like that though. Back in New York, as if sleeping in the city wasn't hard enough, Naomi had to sleep with a fan right next to her face to keep the sound out. And sometimes that wasn't even enough. Her blue eyes followed the sound to see who else but Andy Wisher walking along the railing. Naomi couldn't help but smile a little when she saw him. Not only was he a famous actor, but he was also incredibly attractive. Plus, he was a pretty nice guy too. At least from what Naomi had seen so far...and that had only been on a chat room. Naomi took a deep breath and told herself to just act normal. It wouldn't be that hard, she had met famous people before and she knew she didn't get star struck very easily. After all, they were just people too. People that were really good at their job. And one day, Naomi would be one of those people. That was one thing she couldn't stand about some people. They looked at celebrities like some kind of alien that weren't actually human. Some people blamed them for everything, when actually stars probably worked twice as hard as the people complaining about them.
As she watched him out of the corner of her eye, trying not to let on that she had actually noticed him, a smile grew on her face. A scene had popped up in her head, a normal activity for Naomi and her overactive imagination. In her mind, her life pretty much ran as a soap opera and she had a great time making up little scenarios in her head that in real life were actually completely ridiculous. She could see it now; both of them in evening wear on the bow of the cruise ship, under the stars, him confessing his love for her and Naomi in return demanding that he break up with his girlfriend for them to be together. So it wasn't the most realistic scene. They never were. And it was probably going to end up that this guy wasn't her type anyway. Oh well, it was funny to dream, wasn't it? Besides, Naomi had to think that she wasn't the first girl to think up a wild fantasy about Andy Wisher. The only difference with Naomi was that she was 100% joking with herself, thinking up the scene for laughs instead of the fan girls that fantasize until they think it's actually true.
She was laughing at herself until she noticed that Andy was now pretty close to her chair, then tried to hid her grin as he broke the silence. She sat up a little more in her chair, drawing her legs in a little. It wasn't that she was shy with herself, she just never wanted people to think that she was trying to flaunt them or anything. Plus, they were starting to stick to the plastic chair a little. "Definitely. A lot better than New York weather."
She said smiling, yet silently wondering why he was wearing a long-sleeve shirt on a day like today. Her grin grew as he realized who she was and even remembered her name. "That's me, in the flesh. Wait, you're....Andy, right?" She laughed a little, hoping that he would get the joke. Naomi knew he probably wouldn't find it that clever, but she thought it might be better than, "OMGYOU'REANDYWISHER!". As he commented on her surroundings she laughed and raised her arms, looking around. "Yeah, it's not too shabby. Thought I would get some peace before more people piled on." She patted the lounge chair next to her, inviting him into her little paradise. After a couple seconds of thinking whether she should say it or not, she blurted out, "Aren't you hot wearing that shirt? It's got to be at least 80 degrees out." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Andy briefly reflected on how even this, his most normal moment on the cruise so far, was somewhat bizarre: a virtually undisturbed deck on a ship as full as fire codes would allow with rowdy young adults. It seemed implausible, at least. But somehow, he really wasn’t surprised. It had been years since his life had been anything even remotely akin to normal. From the time his father walked out on him to his surreal boost to stardom to his not-really-a-relationship with Ella, “normal” had disappeared from Andy’s vocabulary. Hell, he wasn’t even sure if he would recognize normalcy if it smacked him in the face.
So he had to admit, it was nice that Naomi didn’t make a big deal out of him being there. If he was going to be honest, though, he would almost rather that she wasn’t there at all, at least for the moment. He was much too nice to tell her that, of course, and it wasn’t as though he held a personal grudge against her or anything of the sort, but another thing that came with the celebrity territory was never getting a moment to yourself. Still, it’s not like he was upset that she was there. It was just…a different situation than the ideal he pictured. She had probably gone up there to be by herself as well, so he imagined that she was less than thrilled that he had showed up as well, and when she adjusted herself so that she was actually slightly farther away from him, Andy felt sure that his theory was true.
But as long as they were both there, they might as well exchange niceties and all of that. And she didn’t seem to be opposed to that idea, since she answered him and didn’t seem to be ticked off about it or anything. Which was good, because things would have been really awkward then, and Andy hated awkward situations with a passion. He was absolutely shit at dealing with them.
“Definitely. A lot better than New York weather.” Andy grinned and nodded. He had only been to New York a couple of times, and only to the city—which he assumed was what she was talking about, although he supposed if she wasn’t from the city she might get annoyed by such assumptions. But both times he was there, it was raining, and everyone seemed to be complaining about it. “Oh yeah, I feel ya. It’d be pretty rare to get this kind of weather anywhere north of Florida, really, so I can only imagine what it must be like all the way up there.” There, he’d avoided directly mentioning the city.
And then he grinned again when she pretended not to recognize him. “Yeah, it’s me all right, how did you know?” He actually got that pretty often; it seemed like everyone had to address his relative celebrity in some fashion, whether they did so directly or by trying to make a joke about the people who did. On some level, he suspected that that was why most celebrities only dated other celebrities or people they knew prior to being famous: they were the only ones who truly knew how to ignore the topic altogether. But that just kind of came with the territory, so he learned quickly not to let it bother him too much.
Taking his cue, Andy sat on the edge of the lounge chair next to her. “Oh well, sorry to interrupt you then,” he teased, not sure if there wasn’t some level on which she wasn’t really joking. Whatever, the damage had already been done.
He almost laughed when she asked if he was hot, but held it back. Who did she think she was, Ella? All these women were out to get him, honestly. “What do you mean? he asked with a completely straight face. “It’s absolutely freezing out here, hadn’t you noticed?” He shivered for good effect before he finally couldn’t stop himself anymore and laughed. “Yes, I’m actually probably on the verge of heat stroke or something, and that’s why I made my way over here. It was so hot and steamy near all of those cool kids at the pool, y’know. But don’t worry, I have learned my lesson and will not make the mistake of wearing long sleeves in Florida in the summertime again. Ella’s already made fun of me enough about it, too, so don’t you start in too,” he added, pointing his finger at her accusingly with a smile.

Naomi's blue eyes watched as Andy took a seat, smiling gently. She was glad that he had taken the invitation, now she would at least have someone to talk to. It had been a weird day and a half so far, she honestly hadn't had a real conversation with anyone since she had been on the ship. Except conversations about work. Otherwise, she really hadn't met anyone. Just sitting and talking with people was one of her favorite things to do, even if it wasn't anything really deep. Naomi loved to get to know people, loved to see what she had in common and what was different about them as well. Her favorite part was learning their story. It was something that took some time but Naomi loved hearing where people came from, what has happened to them, and what unique experiences they have had. Of course, it wasn't always a great past-time, sometimes people thought her just a little too nosy. However, she never seemed like she pushed too hard ever and she never intentionally dug for dirt on the other person. It was just good to connect with people. To know that someone else is going through the same things you are.
"Oh, you aren't interrupting at all. I'm just laying here. Anyway, I could use some company."
Naomi pulled her legs in to sit cross-legged on the chair, resting her hands around her ankles. This was pretty much her talking position. She noticed that anytime she was about to start a conversation with someone, she would cross her legs. It was just one of those things. Naomi laughed as he tried to convince her how cold out it was, her pale pink lips parting to show her white teeth. Another favorite past-time of Naomi's: smiling. She loved to laugh and smile and pretty much did one or the other 75% of the time. She couldn't stand people that were to stern. I mean, life is short right? Why be miserable for most of it? That was one thing you could count on Naomi for; always have a smile on her face. Even if something was troubling her, she wasn't going to let her problems bring everyone else down. The world had enough of that. Naomi laughed as Andy went on. He had obviously gotten flack before, it seemed that most of it was coming from his girlfriend, Ella. Now Naomi was a little ashamed that she had known that him and Ella were dating, she didn't usually keep up on all of the celebrity gossip. But just by being around people that were "in the loop", even Naomi knew that Andy Wisher and Ella Kozel were just about the biggest celebrity couple out there. Her friend back home had explained them as "the next Zac and Vanessa". If only she could see Naomi now, sitting on a cruise ship, just shooting the breeze with Andy Wisher. "Nah, I was just curious." Naomi laughed a little, putting her hands up in front of her as a kind of defense. She had never been one to nag at anyone. She had always felt like if the person wanted to do something a certain way, who was she to say otherwise? Naomi scratched the back of her neck before flipping all of her golden blond hair to one shoulder. She pulled her crossed legs a little closer to her body, feeling and liking the stretch. "So what brings you to this charming little floating paradise?" Naomi asked, taking a quick glance at the ship around her. That was one thing that Naomi was great at, keeping conversation flowing. She hated awkward silences so she learned how to avoid them at all costs. Now she hardly ever remembered there was such a thing. She had heard once that children that don't get a lot of physical contact as a child (hugging, etc) tend to feel awkward during silence and therefore fill that silence by talking. Naomi completely agreed with that statement and understood that that was probably what had happened to her. Her parents rarely gave any hugs or kisses and so Naomi turned into the chatty kathy that she is today. [/blockquote][/blockquote] six ninety seven. WORDS ANDY TAGGED HERE OUTFIT PANIC! ITS LAUZ @ CAUTION TEMPLATE i love how they don't find each other perfect. makes it much more realistic than most rpgs. NOTES
