HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDSO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
This had to be the best job that Naomi had ever taken. She was going to travel around the tropics, sing and act every night, get a great tan during the day...what more could she ask for? It was much better than the jobs she got back in New York: working as a waitress during the day and doing stupid local commercials on the weekends. Yeah, this was much better. Of course, since she took this job she wasn't going to be able to try out for anything on the main land but it had just been one more thing that she had had to give up. She might never become a famous actress anyway, so she had to take jobs when they came to her. Naomi took another sip of her Margarita and tried to relax. Having days off was going to be pretty sweet though. She made a pact to herself right then that she wouldn't spend every day here, at the Jamaican Me Crazy Poolside bar but even now, just on her first day aboard the ship, it sounded extremely appealing. The crisp water kept her cool as she sat on the submerged stool, the Florida sun hitting her back at just the right angle to keep her warm enough. She envied the people that had enough money to come on this cruise as a vacation, however when she was doing something that she loved as a job, she couldn't really complain. She just had to keep in mind, it was still a vacation from New York City.
Her phone lit up on the counter of the bar, seeing her brother's name flash up on the screen. She answered it even before her ringtone could start to play. This was the only family member she was in contact with, and she loved to talk to him at any chance she could get. Both her and him had been the ugly ducklings of the family. Her other brother and her parents were straight-edged, Jesus loving, society-hating pricks. But Noah and her had stuck together growing up. She still didn't know why he hadn't left yet, like she had. She had often tried to persuade him to come live with her but Noah still wanted some kind of relationship with his parents and brother, even if it was fake. See, Noah is gay and Naomi is the only one in the entire world that knows it. It took her forever to convince him that he wasn't the devil just because he fell in love with men instead of women, but she was still working on getting him to come out to their parents and brother. They both knew that it would lead to him getting kicked out of the house, like Naomi had been for pursuing her acting career. Although she wanted him to get out of there for his own sake, it was her only connection to her family anymore and she was always comforted when she could here her parents' voices in the background.
"Hey Noah!............Yeah, it's absolutely wonderful here! How's everything at home?......Oh.....Well, I'm just going to say it, you are always welcome at my place when I get home........Nah, I just boarded yesterday but I'm having a dress rehearsal later today.....I know! I'm so excited!......Oh, ok.....Hey, tell Mom, Dad, and Micah I say hi.....well, at least try okay.....Alright, I will talk to you later, Love you!"
Naomi hung up her phone and set it back on the counter, taking a huge gulp of her frozen treat. She just had to take a few deep breaths. Sure, it was hard coping with your family rejecting you but lots of other people had it worse. As she sat there in her bikini, she couldn't help the anger that started to rise in her chest. Who could do that to their own children? It was horrible. She just worried for Noah's sake. Even though he was technically 11 months older than Naomi, she kind of acted as the older sister now, since she was the first to stand up to their parents. His secret was going to be way harder to reveal than hers had been. She just hoped that he was strong enough to realize that it wasn't him, it was them. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= It was a lucky day, by anyone’s standards but more so for Heather than she had first appreciated. It started with her early morning check in before she went out on duty to the VIP lounge only to be told that she had been reassigned to the pool area. An unusual turn of events which she followed through. When she arrived on the lido deck she spotted a security guard already there. She approached him and mentioned she had been sent to relieve him, assuming he had had the night shift, the guard dismissed her saying he had just arrived. What followed was a frustrating series of radio calls as Heather tried to determine where she was supposed to be for her morning shift. Ultimately, she gave up after an hour and a half of endless checks by simply telling her supervisor she’d be taking the day off on account of how messed up the system was.
This she nod found herself in her cabin changing into one of her many new swimming costumes. She had no intentions of swimming; she just wanted a relaxing environment to spend her now free time in. One of the many perks of working on a cruise ship. As she grabbed her town, radio and staff id she headed out and set off for the top deck. She took the lift up, as lazy as it seemed but she had spent an hour yesterday quite literally chasing down a young man on account of him having a dodge boarding pass. After eventually cornering him somewhere down in the lower decks, it had turned out his credit card had refused payment but the issue was easily resolved when he paid using another card. A massive waste of Heathers time but it had given her a good workout.
When she arrived on the deck she wasted no time in finding a nicely located deck chair before spreading out her towel on top of it (in essence, claiming ownership of it for today) and placing her radio underneath it. However, she kept her staff id and phone on her as she gingerly waded into the pool towards the poolside bar. It was the first time she’d chosen to visit the bar despite the fact that she’d been in the pool many times already. She took up an empty seat close to a young woman currently on the phone. Heather placed her belongings on the bar and asked for a Mojito, one of her favorite drinks.
Heather took a moment to take in her surroundings. She was in partial shade here at the bar but the sun was high in the sky and showed no signs of letting up. The pool wasn’t as crowded as she had been expecting but the bar had many more customers than just her and the blonde. As the young woman finished her phone call Heathers drink arrived, looking as temtping as ever. She picked up the glass and gestured to the woman next to her with her glass. ”Cheers!” She said enthusiastically before taking a long gulp of alcoholic refreshment.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Outfit: HERE Notes: its fine! <3 sorry about mine… seemed the only reasonable way to start them talking without the whole “hi random stranger!” xD

HERE WE GO AGAIN; WE'RE SICK LIKE ANIMALS WE PLAY PRETENDSO TAKE IT EASY ON ME; I'M AFRAID YOU'RE NEVER SATISFIED ---------------------------------------------------
Naomi perched her head on one of her hands, resting her elbow on the counter. She tried not to think of her parents but she never could help when she talked to Noah. A small smile crept on her face when she thought about what they would say to her right now. Probably that drinking is a sin, she looks like a whore with that two-piece bathing suit on, and that she should repent and get on the right track with the lord. Yeah, that is about how it would sound. If only they knew how hypocritical they were. She pictured her mother during every evening of Naomi's childhood, on her fifth glass of wine on the couch. That was the only way that she coped with Naomi's father, drown herself in a glass. And of course it wasn't a sin because even Jesus drank wine. Also, all of the horrible things that her parents said about people that were 'living in sin', even though the bible said that you should love everyone, no matter what. Coming from twelve years of going to a Christian school had given Naomi countless scripture references to counter-act everything her parents said were holy. That was the problem with religion; full of contradictions.
Naomi just now noticed the girl sitting next to her, now ordering a drink. She had seen the girl before...somewhere. Naomi couldn't quite place it. She thought back to yesterday, her first day on the ship and what she had done. Then it came to her, she had been a security guard on duty down at The Pearl Club when Naomi had gone down there to try on her costume. She thought it was awesome that a petite girl like her could make it as a security guard; she was all for girl power. Actually, Naomi was kind of relieved when she heard the girl order a drink. She had been wondering whether staff were allowed to drink on the ship, even when they were off duty. But if a security guard was doing it, it must be okay, right? Naomi sipped on her margarita, glad that alcohol wasn't going to be banned for the entire journey. It wasn't like she was addicted or anything, but she sure did like her drinks once in a while. After the girl got her drink, Naomi saw out of the corner of her eye that the girl had raised her glass toward Naomi. "Cheers" Naomi smiled as she turned toward the girl, glad that she had broken the ice. In fact, Naomi had been dying to talk to someone. She hadn't really met anyone except the people she was going to work with since she had gotten here. "Cheers."
Naomi returned, raising her own glass up and lightly clinking it with her neighbor's. She took a swig of the sweet tropical drink, it now being about half gone. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. "I'm Naomi, by the way. I think I saw you the other day over in The Pearl Club." Naomi angled her body toward the girl, hoping that this might be her chance to finally make a friend on the ship. It wouldn't be very hard for Naomi since she was a pretty likable girl, but for some reason, she was worrying that she would be an outcast on the ship. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Heather was growing more restless by the day. Keeping in contact with her friends back in the UK was expensive via text and she hadn’t had enough access to the internet to make e-mail or instant messaging viable. She barely had the time to update her Facebook status and when she did, she was usually too tired to think of anything constructive. ‘So tired… off to bed!’ Not exactly a fantastic post. She hadn’t considered getting an American network sim card for her phone when she took the job, knowing full well she would be across the pond for a few months. Heather sighed lightly, she was sure she’d figure something out, eventually. However, the more she thought about it, the less she would want to talk to some of her friends. The majority of them would be asking stupid questions like what she was wearing and such. They were hardly the people she wanted to know she was in a revealing swimsuit at a bar with a young blonde.
As Heather took a generous gulp of her mojito, the woman introduced herself as Naomi. Heather pondered on where she had heard the name before, but Naomi quickly jogged her memory as she mentioned seeing her in the Pearl Club a few days ago. Heather had been assigned to the club for a shift or two and had done security checks backstage and around the seating areas, hence Heather now recognized Naomi’s face from when she had been rehearsing for her act. Her name she had picked up from one of the many posters around the ship advertising the many acts performing during the cruise. Naomi was an actress of some sort; Heather hadn’t had enough time to take note of what she did as she was on duty at the time. That and the fact that she wasn’t particularly interested in performing arts.
Heather hadn’t expected such a positive response from the young woman, being approached by a random stranger at a bar. It seemed that on a boat full of young adults these kinds of introductions are much more accepted. “I’m Heather.” She began, putting her drink back down onto the bar before adding: ”Yes, I remember you on. You were on stage, rehearsing?” Heather asked at the end, hopefully prompting a response that would confirm her accusation. Regardless, it seemed that Heather wouldn’t have to rack up a large phone bill to keep herself entertained.
